
Project Overview
The Lahav Division of IAI required advanced infrared (IR) landing and anti-collision lights for helicopters to enhance operational safety during various missions. The lights needed to be energy-efficient, durable, and capable of performing under extreme environmental conditions.
Implementation Strategy
Michmas Electronics provided a comprehensive full turnkey solution that addressed both electronic and mechanical design challenges. Moreover, the team adequately addressed the need for acquiring highly-specialized components. The engineering team developed high-performance circuits capable of emitting precise infrared light suitable for aviation use.
Custom mechanical enclosures and heatsinks were designed to manage heat dissipation and improve durability. Environmental and performance tests were conducted to ensure the lights met aviation-grade safety standards. After approval, the production process was optimized to support serial production at scale.
Outcome
Hundreds of IR landing and anti-collision lights were produced annually, enhancing the safety and operational capabilities of IAI’s helicopter fleet. This project underscored Michmas Electronics’ expertise in delivering aerospace components that meet exacting industry standards.
